Started by James M. Helms · 10 months ago

  • Slydial>pinger. The whole reason of leaving a direct voicemail is to avoid conversation and with Pinger that is lost. Receiving a text is a blatant sign that the sender did not want to speak with you. Slydial creates that "illusion" by having the receiver see a voicemail prompt. The missed call that sometimes occurs makes it seem as if the sender actually tried to call them. Pretty sly if you ask me.
  • Pretty sly indeed, thanks for your comment. I'm sure that there are others who agree with you too. There may be instances where Pinger is a better fit? I'd like to hear about them.
  • I discovered that at least with Verizon you can leave messages directly on people's voicemails without involving any other companies. There is an option in my voicemail menu to "send a message" in which you can simply type in the phone number you want to leave a message for, and it is sent directly to their voicemail. The only downside of this is that you have to know the phone number or have it written down, which isn't too common these days with cell phones being our reliable portable address/phone books. Just another option for avoiding the conversation...
  • I have Verizon as well, I never noticed the feature, I'll check it out. I can only think of a few times when no conversation is beneficial. I think its a great option to have...when I talk to my wife...thats right, no conversation :)
  • I acn call my boss and tell the b^tch that I am sick and won't be coming in to work. That way I avoid her many questions on why couldn't it wait until the week end etc
